Tango version of Windows phone is bound to bring in many cool features and improvements along with some firm restrictions for low-end devices.
Russian website wp7forum.ru tested Tango on a dev phone (the HTC Mazaa) and they’ve come up with some very interesting details.
The Negatives
Maximum support of 256 MB RAM (current models of all Windows phone sport a 512 MB RAM). This essentially means that the device won’t support all apps, plus third-party Live Tiles won’t update automatically.Video playback (videos on the phone and streaming video) with a bitrate higher than 4 Mbps will not be supported.Podcasts cannot be managed on phone and using Zune on PC will become mandatory for the same.Because of the above stated limitation, photos can’t be uploaded automatically to SkyDrive. The Positives
Support for 3 MP cameras on board. Many usability improvements like import/export of contacts from SIM card.Improved MMS support with multiple attachments including picture, video and audio files.Support newer geographies and increase in number of pre-installed apps.Looks like Tango will bring in some desired improvements to mid- and high-end phones and also help Microsoft sell low-end affordable phones to increase the reach of smartphones across multiple category of consumers.Udit Hotchandani
