An Allegheny County Airport Authority spokesman says the F-18 aircraft had taken off from the 911th Airlift Wing in nearby Moon Township on Friday when the pilot got a warning signal.
Spokesman Jeff Martinelli says the jet's two-man crew landed at Pittsburgh International Airport. He says there was no fire, no injuries and no effect on commercial traffic at the airport.
A spokesman for the 911th Airlift Wing can't be reached for comment.
Earlier this month, the Air Force announced plans to close the Pittsburgh base as part of a long-term strategy to reduce military budgets.
